It does George and that all makes sense. So now it can start unassisted? (just the glow plugs). That must be gratifying because a lot of old engines can be made to run but they continue to need help to start until the thing(s) that are deficient are remedied.
I'm looking forward to the video where you bury the ripper for some sustained hard pulling and really hear the engine work! : )

Cheers,
Neil

Replied by monserandsons on topic Victory!
Congratulations! At what point did you go from being way overfilled to low on oil? Seen that before, so overfilled engine would hardly crank over...

Yes, went there today with my whole family and glowed for less than 30 seconds and bam right over no hesitation what so ever... That my friend is the most gratifying of it all... Not only did I get it running. But it starts better than ever..... I did not buy at all that a dozer in Hawaii where temp is lowest at 55 degrees in the morning that it would take 3 times at a minute each to get her to fire off.... Again, I am no expert but that makes zero absolutely zero sense... Maybe in North Dakota or somewhere very very cold but not Hawaii....

So today I had all my family there my kids and wife to show them... She fired as I stated right up... She did not embarrass me at all...

Oh my girls the oldest is ten named her... She calls her Beastie (after Maleficent)... I will post a startup video for all to see....

That is a great question and of course I need some help with this.... I put I could swear 15 gallons of 15W-40W and the dipstick was cold overfill.... When I got her started I was not worried as she was 4 gallons over and some specs say she can be 1-2 gallons over as to dependent on topography.... Hills ect... Well when I looked at the oil on idle she wasn't even registering... I put another 8 gallons in her to bring her up to the proper dipstick mark 3/4 to the full line... She was good and warm.. I checked all the fluids to make sure it did not go through the radiator, or transmission or diesel fuel.... It does not appear to be anywhere... I do not see a severe leak or any major drips.... So I am clueless.... I don't see excessive smoke or anything telling me that it is burning somewhere... I would like to understand where it is and why? I am very very happy that at the very least I will get it on a lowboy and bring it home... There I have all the time in the world to fix her.... Maybe I am fine and just making a mountain out of nothing... But I will make sure I get to the bottom of it.... Let me know your thoughts... I am just going to drop the belly pan and check better for leaks.... Nothing is screaming at me and I will just load her and make sure she has plenty of oil in her even if I need to keep adding until I get her home....

Well done on getting the old gal to make some smoke. My playing with my D4 is utter child's play in comparison. If I tried to gather my wife and kids for a start up, my daughter would be in tears and scared to death (loud pony motor) and my wife would be repulsed by any exhaust smoke. You've got good crew there. I like the U blade on that. I bet she can carry a serious load. Looks decent on the outside too. Hopefully the drivetrain is the same. Congrats

I know any idea on where it is going? Is it possible to be going in my torque converter? Its not in my diesel tank or in my antifreeze. What do you think old Magnet? Just need to get her home first... Is it possible to be going into my tranny? Not sure on where all the seals are? Meaning between the engine block ect....

If you can't find where the oil is going how would someone find it on their computer?
Don't worry it's nothing large sums of money and brute force can't fix.
