Dizzel, thank you so much and all those others that have been there for the last 3 months as I posted my first post.... Some I scared away others I frustrated them but still they came back and helped the best they could. The good the bad but it was one hell of a learning experience...

Just to share with you the prior owner had 2 Caterpillar mechanics out to work on her over 5 times... He ran out of time and money and thought she would run but thought she might need an engine...

Take A Look at the video and see for yourself.... I got her running and I am on cloud 9....... Sorry in advance for the profanity.....

You call that profanity, if I went through what you did your ears would probably catch on fire when it started. Congratulations on getting it started , you earned it.

What's up with your truck, there's gotta be a profanity laced story on that!

My father used to tell me: patience and perseverance - I sometimes found both in short supply.
He also had a "rule" which played out true most of the time - helped me many times over the years, maybe help some here too. "WHEN you are sure it is fuel, check ignition, or vice versa" Still very true.

I just looked up a quote: "Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish".

You have proven a good dose of both produces results -- Congratulations

Hi, gvanhouten.
Just so yer know, given similar conditions, I would pick a late model D9G over an H series any time. I have spent a fair bit of time on both and always thought the G was the better machine. I never did like the inter-connected steering on the 9Hs or the 8Ks and I still think the 9G is better balanced dozer than the H series. They hung a heavier blade on the Hs and blew it, at least for mine.

Now go and plug Kilauea. LOL.

Just my 0.02

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

I've been lurking in the background following this thread closely. Made my day to see it running.

I have checked this thread everyday, always expecting to hear this beast run. I’m not sure I would have been able to get through what you have done. Great job !

Appreciate that Deas..... All I have to say was yesterday was an incredible day of course besides the first day she started and ran.... I corrected my idle situation.... Seems that governor has a safety measure built in for oil pressure.... If the oil pressure is not high enough she shuts down and will not idle or anything... I checked the oil and mind you I never got her started so really couldn't tell the level for sure.... Zero oil leaks and checked to make sure oil not in fuel tank, radiator, transmission, ect... No leaks. So I needed to top her up with some more oil and then she ran like a dream.... I must admit we did damn good I am mean damn good... With everybody's help we where able to accomplish in that pit a lot... We brought the old girl out of her coma and made her better.... Now it takes literally 30 seconds of glow plugs to fire her right off.... She does not stutter or even bog down she lights right off... I imagine all her new parts took care of the previous neglected much needed attention to the fuel system.... My deal as silly as it sounds was if she started I would buy a new seat for her from Finley. Well it will be here by the 8th... Now I need to purchase a stack for her with a flapper to never let water enter her again... It just makes me so damn angry to see an awesome machine like her and someone just not do the basic and put a $3 bucket over her stack to keep the water out.... I just cannot for the life of me figure out with what these machines cost why someone would not do the basics... It just blows my mind.... Anyway enough of my rant....So yesterday I took care of all the fluids and made sure before running her out of the pit she was topped up... Mind you after nearly 3 months of this journey I was dam scared... First Never operated a 9 before but more importantly how is her power shift transmission will it work or will I have another nightmare... Well needless to say all I ever wanted was to put her on a lowboy and get her home... Yesterday fired her right up one last check of fluids let her idle for warm up and then threw in reverse made sure the brakes where off and away she went.... A little different then my d7g my clutches are much tighter and smoother but much newer machine... The d9g moved amazingly I have a video from my FIL (father in law) and I was one proud guy... I didn't cry but I was close.... It has been a long journey and my goal when I get her home next week a lowboy is coming is to first drop the belly pan and get my power washer to her and clean her up.... I want to re paint her but I will first make sure all the mechanics are smoothed out... A couple of new parts I need of course. Valve cover gaskets, temp control, stack, install new seat... Check out old hoses that need replacing and the list continues.... Trust me I am not going anywhere... I will be posting more videos and pictures for everyone to see... This was a collaborative effort and I could not have done it without my FIL and the help from many of the people on this forum... Again, a very humbled thank you and if I can will repay it forward to others... Cheers....
