Okay so here is behind the scene story..... I must admit I was very frustrated and never thought it would end.... I was convinced after hearing her fire a couple days ago only for like 3 seconds if I could get back there then maybe just maybe she would start.... So I went ahead and said okay I put in Risilone in right before I buttoned her up rolled it by hand and forgot about it... I also added the thick Lucas oil crazy heavy weight...

So I decided to try and repeat that today... I grabbed two bottles of risilone from NAPA and some 10w/30 w oil to add... And some diesel power serve...So first thing was prime the system and bleed through the wheel and primer pump.... She pumped up pretty good. I took my 9/16 wrench and was double checking bolts for looseness.. I found two on the air filter secondary and tightened them up...They where not super loose but I wanted them snug... So I added a lot of the risilone through the glow plug port.... She started to puff black and a flame shot out of the exhaust stack... I said good we are going to warm her up... I did this a total of 3 times and charged the batteries between to at least 95%.... I finally got to the point where she was huffing like crazy and building up momentum... I kept the starter pegged and didn't care if I fried it at this point... The starter was just there to support the increasing momentum.... Finally she gave out a huge puff and got going and I stopped in disbelief not believing that she was running... I sat there looking at her in disbelief.... Looking for drips and checking the hydraulic pump and brought up the ripper and the front u blade... She ran for 45 minutes... I hear a tinging in the muffler it sounds like it is right behind the turbo... I believe it is metal particles from the rusted out muffler that seeped water through...

So the great news is she ran for 45 minutes and I shut her down... She was down for about an hour... After of course I packed up all my tools moved my truck and went to her with bolts to reattach the hood... I turned the key and she fired right up as she should but could not find an idle.... Prior to that the idle as mentioned was rough... I had to put it in the middle of the governor gears... I like it to idle all the way forward just before the closed detent... So of course tomorrow I need to go back and figure out why she will start but will stall as if the oil pressure switch in the governor is not catching... Or if someone else knows what is going on it would be helpful.... So the symptoms are simple glow her for like 30 seconds crank the starter she lets out a blast of black smoke and starts but I have to keep her on full idle and then she starts to bog down and then I move the governor forward and all the way back again and then she roars again but can't find idle.... She will stall but again you can fire her right back up but then you need to play with the governor handle to almost manually rev her....

Need some help but the great news is she runs.... She really runs....

Deas Plant,

You have been there and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your support!

Hi, gvanhouten
Yer welkum to the support. THAT is what this site is all about. I want to thank YOU for taking us all along for the ride on the journey to getting the old girl running again. It's been a bit of a mission, more so for you than for us.

Thanks again.

Now go and enjoy your 'new' toy.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Better pull inspect that turbo, somethings hitting the turbine fins, rev it up and it could be catastrophic!

Congratulations!!!! So what were the final hurdle steps that got it going???

There is no oil pressure switch in the governor. The decelerator also functions as a rpm limiter to allow start but not rev up until oil pressure is made. That doesn't appear to be the problem here. The governor control here is the old ratchet type, known to show the symptoms of wear. Tightening the linkage pin pivots may help with holding position.

I don’t know who is more excited about your 9 running, YOU or everyone on the sidelines?!!!
AWESOME!!!:faint::faint:
I don’t know anything about a D9, so I sure as heck wasn’t going to say anything. Credit goes to you, your FIL, and those who tried to assist. Glad you didn’t throw the towel in!
I bet that is one HUGE weight off of your shoulders. Let the real fun begin! JM
