Frank,

I have a hard time getting my float to work correctly and not leak. I have put a rebuild kit in it and tinkered a good deal. Basically, after I open the tank valves, the chamber fills up and starts overflowing. I take a screwdriver handle and tap the bowl which usually reseats the needle valve and it then works fine. They are very temperamental.

Jan

Hi Jan,
I tried that on the bench before taking it appart. The neeedle moved. I thought the float did to, till I put it on the engine and ran the fuel... So after I opened the carb, the shelac and gas residue had formed a wedge on the float keeping it open.

yes tighten it a bit more, as you dont want to have leakage,
i installed a (oil)seal on the outside of the nut to avoid this seapage, i know its not Original but it works for me , and i was tired of every time having this leakage and loosing my coolant,

photo of impulse side. So gravity gets it to catch on the recess for cranking. And when engine is running they don't catch...?

This one has a bad coil. (Open)

Original it has a Eisseman gv4 magneto,
yes, centrifugal forces when engine is running keep the weights out and thus running the shaft normal, non running: the gravity let the pawl grip and actuating the impuls stating meganism.

Frank,

My TWENTY plate is just a smooth corroded aluminum plate. Do you want to trade? At least your can be read. I think they are available in the UK. You know where.

Lots of gunk down here. Possibly remains of the former tenants of this cat from 25 years ago.
