hello ,i wouldn't be pulling anything apart until your cleaned all the fuel system out and bleed the system back up ,maybe just a old dry fuel has blocked the line some where ,as you say it did run , bruce

Different part number for the D2 injector removal tool, 4B9917, but it looks like it might be the same as the D4 tool, Florin has them.
Thanks, Mike but I have enough tools I only needed once. Lol

Bruce, what all do suggest for cleaning out the fuel system? Filter housing was drained and bled, high pressure lines at the injectors. Well, I guess that's it.
I should note that the fuel is questionable at best. But so far I haven't mentioned it because people here have said that these engines are not picky at all about fuel.

IF you pull the injectors, try to find a fitting to go into the precup where the injector was and do a pressure bleed down test. They can tell you a lot sometimes you can even hear the sir whistling into the crankcase or out a manifold...

As said before, try some ether and see if it will fire on that. That will tell if fuel or hard parts. I fought a 212 that I KNEW wasnt stuck in fuel off position. I redid everything many times over. Finally I got pissed and yanked hard enough to break stuff and it tripped the shutoff and it started right up. Same as you it had run before and never stuck. Hasnt stuck since. And the rack was moving in the pump and all the plungers were going up and down also.

So it fires and smokes on ether, but won't stay running. Now I'm wondering how he shut it off when he put it on the trailer. I haven't thought about how to shut it off - something that is a big no-no. If I got it started, how to shut it off. I'm guessing you just push the throttle lever all the way forward. I know I've pushed the lever forward, but I don't feel a detent. Should I feel a definite click when going to shut off position?
I've been watching Squatch253 rebuild his 5J1113 but I'm not up to the fuel system yet. I may need to jump ahead. Great idea.

Just figured out how a coolant leak could cause low compression.
Cracked pre-cups. Combustion passes through the crack, pressuring the coolant system causing it to leak.
Now, why am I not worried about this being the issue we are having? If it was cracked enough to cause compression low enough to not start, 1: it would show in the radiator neck with the cap off and B: coolant would be in the oil from leaking into the cylinder, past the rings and into the pan.
Since neither of these things are happening, that's not the issue.

Have a flat piece of wood handy to put over the air cleaner or inlet manifold if the engine takes off on you.

If you havent felt the detent then you for sure dont have the fuel on. Keep checking, you have the problem solved. Just need to find out where it is stuck.
