When you take the primary fuel filter can off you should have a steady full stream of fuel coming out.
If you don't go to the back and look under the fuel tank for 2 shut off valves, take the fuel line off and see if you have a full stream of fuel.
if you don't find a pipe plug the same size as the valve and remove it.
Take a wire and run it up in the tank till you get fuel then put in plug and clean out valve ,turn it off and put it back in.
hook every thing back up turn and valve on.
now prime fuel system and give it a try.

Anybody here have a G9g? or a book that may show what it has on the bottom of the tank ? I have advised George to rig up a fuel can and bypass the main fuel tank all together and open both fuel filters and check them again for debris. Then try it again.

Hi Team,
from my old 66A1-up grey OMI, Form No FEO34078-07, un-dated.

NOTE for early S/No's, by the OMI, have the old 1/4 turn taps and the later S/No's have the 3 turns open taps.

Cheers,
Eddie B.

Correct. no pictures of that end of my unit but there are 2 or 3 tap outlets with fittings on them. Only 1 is connected.

George, did you end up changing the gasket in the primary fuel filter?

the entire fuel system on this tractor is below the top of the fuel tank ,in fact every think up to the injection pump is below the bottom of the tank.
So it should be self bleeding.
If you have ever seen one you would know this and not have all of these homeowner fixes to suggest.
What funny is they just sold a D9G at Ritchies here for 5000 USD,u-blade rippers, cab and a good under carriage and it runs.

You could probably "hang" a 5 gal can full of diesel to feed the system, eliminating any problem from tank to filters. Put it higher than rest of system, gravity will help show any leaks.
Clean fresh fuel without the possible contamination in main tank could help a bit. (remember the early Cat Fuel Tank Caps? "BUY CLEAN FUEL - KEEP IT CLEAN")
Simple to do and cheap!

I worked on a D2 a couple of years ago and it would make some smoke but wouldn't start. We tried all the remedies , either, let the pony run till hot on the head, etc. Finally drained the old fuel out and replaced with new fuel and she started right up. That tractor is still running with no problems.

Well happy happy happy... Good to know but try shipping it to Hawaii and see what that thing costs then..... Yes you are correct the fuel tank should self bleed or gravity bleed.... I know for a fact and never thought much of it but the strainer for the fill port is sitting on the bottom of the tank... I took my horoscope looked in there and saw it... It is perforated and though no way but now I believe that is the issue.... Or something to do with the fuel supply. It looks good some times meaning the fuel but then the more you crank on her and she started and then she stalled immediately. And never got back to the good cranking and then to find out #1 injector is dry.... Naah doesn't make much sense. Thanks Oldbeek (John) for all your patience and help... And that goes for everyone else out there. There are many of you along this journey with me and I truly appreciate it...

No I did not or if I did I dont remember just the primary filter... The parts guy just ordered the filter as we know you have to be specific with CAT when ordering parts...I will crack open the primary and then work my way backwards... Change the gasket to be safe...

I did drain the old fuel out probably over 100 gallons and added fresh but never got the strainer out and never flushed the bottom of the tank... Could be other crap in the bottom....
