Looking good Neil, you are making good progress, I'm not sure how tall you are but I'm around 5'11" and I have my D2 5U seat tank back as far as it will go, on the 3rd bolt hole, and I still find the cockpit tight after a few hours driving her, before you lock everything down and cut your fuel line to length I'd suggest mounting your seat back as far as it will go.

I know it is late, but if you can, try and get those vertical needle roller bearings in the steering linkages out to check them and grease them, that tractor of yours seems to have been really badly abused and I've pulled those needle rollers out of my Cats here and found some have collapsed, it would a shame not to check them after replacing all the other bearings on your tractor, sit a suitable size socket over the center pin and use the correct size bolt with flat washers stacked under the bolt head to pull the pin up and out, same as you do the brake pivot shaft.

Hi Neil, Just took some pics of my D2 5U tank and it's thin plate, plus a schnapp of the seat in the rear position, those 3 holes don't make a huge difference but anything is better than your knees around your chin.

Darn it, I thought the serial number would be legible in either photo, 99% certain it's D2 5U16586

On my 5J I put a couple of C channels under the seat to lift it up and back.
I found a good pivot shaft for a U series in my stock.
Wish I had found in before I came out last month, I could have hauled it out for you!
Still looking for the bracket across the transmission that holds the fenders.

Those are the 2 flat straps that bolt to the plywood back of the seat that go on the tank?

I add extra foam to my seat cushion and it made a big difference. Also the mounting brackets for the seat pan were raised to accommodate the linkages for the winch. I'm 6'3 and I don't have any problems with leg room.
