D2-5U13753 - master pins - please check my understanding

Over the years I have also made all the adapters to push/pull with. Found my CAT pressure gauge the other day that I need. Has 4 scale ranges for various push/pull rams.

I am working on a 5E/22 tractor. Is there any specific specs for that model or would D2 be OK?

Showing my ignorance here : ) - what's a 5E? I have a 1J 22 and know of the 2F (Ray Puffer has one in Albany) but am not familiar with a 5E.

Oh, I see - that keystroke came out e/22 - the back end on the D2s are pretty much the same so I think you can use any of the specs in the book that you find. I did make one change and that's to press the steering hubs on at 10t instead of 15.

Got it - yes, should be the same as the D2 specs for the J-series, which, in my Form FEO 30441-01 that covers both the J and U series serviceman's reference, the information is identical

I don't know if I would press that gear on to 25 tons, let alone 20 tons.
Seems an awe full high tonnage for such a small part?
If CAT lowered the sprocket spec from 15 tons to 10 tons.
Then I would be thinking what's good on the outside is good on the inside?

Well, I'm definitely not pressing it on to 25t. The splined area for the gear is a smaller diameter than the sprocket area, the hub area on the gear is thinner than the sprocket, and if I presume that the gear and sprocket are made from the same material, then bush logic tells me that the pressing tonnage for the gear should be less than that for the sprocket (which is 15t and I'm not even pressing that on that much)

Well just to answer this question I took a spare sprocket shaft and bull gear, not perfect factory new bore and mating surface, put them in in my big shop press- 75T. Pressed to 25T with no problem, turned around and took them apart, that was 15-18T to separate. I measured the distance that gear moved on the shaft and that was approx. .062. I think the two mating surfaces were not ideal. The taper is what holds the pieces together not the nut, that is there just to prevent things really getting loose.

My .02, i'm going for what Cat says.
