after standing on my head for an hour or so adjusting the right brake band got it done checked the oil in the tranny front dipstick was none in it
added 2.5 gal to it it showed on the full mark .
also put a high current start button on as my key switch quit working i replaced it for 25 bucks
it still works for power on just dose'nt do anything when trying to crank

greased all the fittings i could find added 1 gal of oil to the crank case

loaded it up on the trailer ,this thing is heavy its all that lil 5 ton truck wants for sure but got it over to my second job
i have a lil video of me running it up to the barn .

just moved it today not operating till next week sometime .
it seems to be running very well

it tows pretty good i could use a lil more power in the truck for pulling long hills maybe a DT466 And a Allison tranny

I have a great spare in the shed. It won the annual school bus dirt track race two years ago at a nearby oval race track. It ran away from all others up on two wheels a few times. I helped a friend junk out the busses after so I got the engine and tranny.

hi all

well i adjusted the right side brake band again after running it all summer.

i had a lil job over this last weekend ran the loader about 8 hours cleared 2 spots for deer plots and an old road bed
and made part of a road.

when we were almost done i could tell that the right side brake was not locking up when i hit the pedal
im not sure whats going on maybe the brake band is stretching or is the steering clutch not adjusted right

im going to go back in and adjust it again this weekend
i have another job lined up to clear about 5 acres of brush ,dig a hole and burn a old barn put in a couple culverts and clear some fence line

no oil on the brake drum it looked polished and smooth

any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated

Hey CharlesCat933f,

My D6-9u when working hard in the hills will loose feeling on the brake pedal and loose turning action. I'll let it cool down over night and re-adjust in the morning when cool. I've heard of guys sprinkling Ajax powder on the drum while hot to get more out of it. I haven't tried it on brakes, but have on a CCU. It did work. When I sense the pedal is getting soft, I'll change my working pattern to not over heat the one side and turn the other way. Over working one side can be avoided. It also sends a signal to me to slow down a bit, as I'm over working the machine. Fifth gear hauling with sharp turns and turning sharp on downhills is were I get it hot. I've noticed I tend to use the right brake to slow usually. So I force myself to run the left for a period of time. Switching my patterns through out the day really help. Hopes this helps.

Hey CharlesCat933f,

Good deal... Yes, old Cats are way too much fun. The braking power will return when cooled. Tricks learned as you have fun will keep them running longer under conditions.

hey guys

i need to change the oil filter on my loader .i have the new filter and its the canister type my question is on the housing part that
looks like it has a pipe that bolts in to the block in 2 locations with the filter housing on it

it seems to be leaking somewhat from the area going into the block .

is it an oring seal or a flat gasket

i dont know when the last time it was changed .i suspect maybe when the head was off and rebuilt

anybody have any diagrams of how this goes together machine is 933f 49A1750 i think year is 62
thanks for any help guys

the loader is running good i have a lil job coming up on the side in a week or so
gota top off hydro oil and change oil filter .also id like to top off the final drive oil looks like i can check it from the rear
there are 2 looks like square drive pipe plugs down there .as low as the transmission was on oil i need to check it before i wear something out

got my side job done total of 3 days work
removed about 200 trees pushed into a ditch left all the good trees

some trees were very easy even large ones went right over .
some of the harder ones are called hack berry trees
i had trouble even with the small ones of this veriety
they had so many roots even a 6 inch tree would stop my loader in its tracks
a lil digging helped alot

loader ran good only issue was the charging system only putting out 1 or 2 volts
im going to have to look into fixing the pins on the loader arms also
and the bucket acuaters
