Nice Job Mike!
I noticed the water temp was way low on the first video, on the next 2 videos I see the cardboard blocking the radiator and watched to see the water temp up in the operating range.
Nice troubleshooting and process of elimination!

Hi Team,
Toby has recently put this #34 up
for his D3400 Engine.

I thoroughly recommend that every one should watch ALL of Toby's Tutorials on his D3400 engine as they are full of good practice and data.

Toby's tutorials are excellent for learning how or why on Cat machines.

D311 lifter setting height on engine is :-1.736" at TDC for the relevant cylinder.
This will give you an Injection Timing in Degrees of 12Deg. BTDC (Before Top Dead Center)

These lifter settings have a check tolerance of +/- 0.002" so I would usually set the lifter setting minus 0.001" of the spec. :- ie at 1.735" for this measurement specification setting, which has effectively set the injection timing in an advanced condition measurement--this will aid cold starting ability.

Cheers,
Eddie B.

This video brings back some serious memories for me and my D9G.... I had some fun with my flywheel that was off and setting my injection pump timing with my depth micrometer and I used a micrometer to find TDC for each cylinder. My D9G runs like a SWISS watch and I never got the yokes perfect... I needed to run it around at least three times to get the yokes set within specs. + or - .005. Boy I am a proud papa papa when she works... Zero issues with fuel these day she starts right up within 10 seconds of glow plugs... We live in Hawaii so a quick bit of heat in the morning puts fire in her belly....
