Hi All,
To all guest mebers i just wonder how many beers a week do you have or how many coffees do you buy a week plus how much do you spend on takeaway food.
I look at it this way buy given up a little you can afford the cost of a membership to the club which will keep your old machines running.
Also if you buy an old Cat you must have the US$40 to splurge on a membership.

I put this out there that when the new software comes out that all guest member get only 5 posts then cut off, also you are not allowed access to the for sale section.

I think US$40 (in Aust $62.35, NZ $66, UK£51 and Euro€44) is ok

So think very hard if you want this club to survive?

Regards

Daryl

Hello, I have zero beers a week, I buy zero coffees, and I pretty much never eat out or have fast food. I also bought an old cat because new ones are way too expensive. :P

Also, I am not sure access to a forum/bulletin board is necessarily incentive for people to spend $40 to become a member. Nor having a privileged for sale section. People will probably be less likely to sell something or find a seller when you have fewer people able to see that section. I bought my tractor from someone advertising on facebook.

Now privileged access to consolidated information that is easy to access and use would be incentive. Modern day repair procedures, tool lists for each tractor for modern tools available today, modifications, etc... Maybe have subforums dedicated to discussions about each tractor.

In the age of the internet, it is kind of hard to have a hold of privileged information though...

As with everything in this world there is no such thing as "free". Everything has a cost but where the glitch is who is going to pay. Say what you want but the "other tractor related sites" have costs as well. Someone is paying there as well. The argument can be made that the information is "out there" for free.....be it via internet, manuals, etc. Okay ….I get that but when there is a need to contribute to keep a site up and running where like minded enthusiasts, collectors, etc can trade info and generally make new contacts and friends it is up to the ones charged with that task to figure the best path for those funds. Whether it's through individual members, clubs or outside business advertisements that are related to this organization. I feel there is an effort by the club to do just that. There is no way to get around the thoughts of "it's out there free anyhow" so I won't help. That's a given ……..
Personally the friends I have made here are priceless to me. Some I have met and some I hope to meet in the future. The information and help I have received restoring my small collection was made possible with the help of a lot of individuals here and I thank them for their patience and understanding with all my questions.

Have a good day.....Bill

Just my opinion but if you can afford to have old Cat tractors , you should be able to afford the dues.

maybe the new software would be able to allow a guest a limited number of entries into the site with limited access to the other parts of the board. maybe deny guests the search function and not allow posting? just read only? that way someone can look us over before they decide to join? maybe even a junior membership for a lessor amount of money that allows full function but only lasts a few hours or days.

Bursitis,

We are looking at an initial time period or number of posts prior to imposing restrictions on full access as you have suggested. We feel that the BB and what it offers, is important to increasing membership with eventual financial support so someone new to ACMOC, will enjoy full access to learn what we are all about.

Thank you for your feedback.

I'm already holding back on free tech info to free loaders. I want to see either a $20 donation or $20 BB membership now. Please set up the BB to indicate either an annual donation or BB membership minimum now!!

Gee Pete--you seem to be the only one that agrees with my idea--seems like the consensus is the members only want the $40 membership as minimum

I make a donation each year in excess of the dues---Like you i am not the least bit interested in the magazine so i feel the club makes out better with a donation instead of dues

That's good and thank you. That also should be recognized along with your posts.
Options should state"
ACMOC Member
ACMOC Doner
ACMOC BB Doner

No need for "Guest Member" designation, Either your a member or a doner or obvious guest.

How hard is this to do rather than hearing the whining administration complain about funding for years.
Get it done....NOW!!!!
