before you try to start it you should prepare for a runaway by having a board to cover the air intake. look at the levers or air controls, there should be a swing lever a crowd lever and a hoist lever, sometimes the hoist lever doubles as a boom lift also unles it has a live boom. if there is another then the chance that it has independent travel is high. find the main clutch lever ans once you get it started and build air pressure just feather the levers until you figure out what lever does what. if the travel and swing are tied together there will be a nother lever probably below ant to your right that lifts a dog clutch that sends power from the swing clutches down the center to the bottom.  take some pics of the controls??? and the works?

from the photo's in the ad i think this machine uses the swing clutches to travel with. the ad says there is a bad gear causing the problem also. get into the house and you will see the swing clutches over the swing pinion gear visible from unter the machine. there should be a lever to your right that lifts or lowers a dog that disengages the swing pinion and redirects the motion of the swing clutches forward to the center of the machine and down into the crawler. the problem could be a worn out swing gear or more likely a stuck or frozen dog not alowing the transfer to the center travel shaft. clear as mud?????

Understand perfectly , really ! I did get a group of literature from Badger. All parts, but not complete. Hopefully I can find an operators book showing the controls. There are controls called out in the parts book but no mention of a control for swing/travel change of travel function. There is a diagram showing what looks like travel/steering control. Perhaps the HCEA can provide more info, I am planning a road trip to look at this machine.
Thanks for your input, Herb

from the photo and from the operator seat sitting at the controls====right to left== main engine clutch/house brake or lock/hoist lever/drag or crowd lever/swing lever/live boom raise lower lever. peddles are for the hoist and crowd brakes. i see that both lines are reeved over the tip of the boom and there isn't a fairlead so this machine likely was for clamshell service. when you get to see it take some pics of the works?

After getting a headache from looking at all the parts sheets, I think this is correct or close to correct as my old brain can comprehend. Will actually verify when I get my road trip.

if that diagram is correct the machine has independent travel.  use number 20 on the chart to steer or lock the tracks. one for each side.   usually there is a lock to prevent the machine from being dragged when digging so make sure that isn't why it won't move.    i didn't see a boom hoist lever in the diagram-maybe i missed it??

i think you may have the swing and travel levers mixed up.  i have never seen the travel lever next to the drag lever.  but i could be wrong or not remembering correctly.  no big deal anyway

Just trying to decipher the parts book. I also think the arrangement is odd, but won't know 'till I actually get to the machine. Hopefully soon.

Thanks

that looks like a really nice-sized little "yard" crane to help with lifting duties. guessing about a 7-10 ton lift. keep us posted on how things go. side note if it is air controls there's always just move things manually to get it loaded and home if the air is not working.
