D2MOVA I have been told by a few old timers thru the years that if set correctly you could pull a plow with a chain.

I also was told that a correctly set up plough will trail in a neutral condition, as with a chain, truly behind the machine on level ground and travelling straight with no side draft imparted to the machine.

This is my experience at the Dealer with ploughs, HOWEVER, I stand to be corrected by those who have actually ploughed, unlike me who was only told about it and so helped Dealer clients who were tearing up one side rubber tracks up on Challenger 65 tractors due to incorrect plough set up that caused a necessity to counter steer continually--that took some convincing to change their plough settings--before with their wheel tractors I believe they counter steered but they were likely not aware of it.

The 65's were running pinned drawbars and when they were un-pinned the tractor drawbar clanged--swung--fully one way proving their plough was not set neutrally--more headbanging was needed to convince them before they saw central or neutral side draft pulling with no more track wear evident from then on.
