Local plow day yesterday. My D47U and tandem plow set up I put together. 5x14 worked great.

Nice setup! I’ve been dreaming of an on-land hitch to pull two 3 bottom plows in tandem behind my RD6, I think it would be great fun. Is that Gary in the seat?

Good eye, that is Gary. He came down to see it in action and had to make a round. I can help if someone wants to build one.

i have a JI Case 5x16 drag plow. since my D46U is narrow gauge can i adjust things to pull this as an onland set up?

That will have the center of draft at 46.5 inches from the inside of the furrow wheel. 5 x 16=80/2= 40 +4.5 inches (which is the magic number for 16 inch bottoms to compensate for average draft) +2 inches for clearance between furrow wheel and furrow wall.= 46.5 inches. Set the plow drawbar as straight as possible so your hitch pin is at 46.5 +- an inch or two. Your 6U should be 68? inches wide which would be 34 to center. 46.5-34 =12.5 inches from furrow wall. Also with a crawler having the hitch so low you need to set the point where the hitch hooks to the main frame of the plow as low as it will go. Other wise it will want to pull the back of the plow out of the ground.

Have probably replied to this before but you have to remember trailing ploughs were originally pulled by horses they could not steer them I have ploughed acres and acres with a D2 and a 3 and 4furrows on flat and hill country always the tractor on the land drawbar sliding from centre to the right when it gets steep turning uphill you just move toward s the furow to keep the plough in line will try and post some photos
