Would anyone have the application for the part number shown on the hydraulic ram in the pictures? It was supposed have come from a D-7E. If it could be identified, I need to buy the parts to rebuild it.

D-4 7U-43159 with 4S dozer and Cat 40 scraper, D-7 3T-1179 with Cat 7S hydraulic dozer, D-7 17A 13,944, D-8 14A-1160 with Cat 8S cable dozer, Cat 12-99E-4433 Grader. All runners and users.

Looks like an early 7E military cylinder.

Early D7E 4J6177 Hydraulic Cylinder Group. Appears to be plumbed direct instead of having the usual quick drop valve cylinder head.

Thank you OM. That helps a lot. The cylinder needs to be rebuilt and that gives me a starting point. Do you happen to have a parts book with the breakdown of parts needed for a rebuild?

Hi, Paso Bob.
Did your parents often yell at you for bringing home stray animals???????????????????

Failing the appearance of a parts book, Quinn Cat Santa Maria or Fresno will be able to help you out if given the cylinder part # and/or the Group #. They may tell you that they can't find it in their normal parts inventory. If they do, ask them to look in 'Classic Parts'. That's where the parts lists for the older machines now resides.

You have to explain to them that you can't give them the correct machine serial number and arrangement number 'cos these rams came from another machine and were adapted to their current home.

I have noticed that Quinn Fresno seems to be more helpful than Quinn SM and they will get parts to the Easter drop box at Quinn Rentals in Paso.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

You need to get one of these, Form # UE035033. There are three different types of that cylinder plus you need to know about the quick drop cylinder head.

Hi, Old Magnet.
Did the early D7Es with the front hydraulic tank have the quick drop rams or did they come in with the side tank hydraulic systems?

Info I have, 172/3 Hydraulic Control, Blade, and #46 48C Parts Book and 172/48C Service Manual all show quick drop valves. They morfed through three different quick drop valves but all arrangements had them. Still wouldn't surprise me if a few direct non quick drop arrangements got out there but it is not shown in the literature I have. As Rome/KG stated, could be a military version.

Thanks OM, I ordered the book. Deas, I've worked with most of the Quinn dealers in the area and have a parts guy in Bakersfield that chases parts for older equipment like a bloodhound. Thanks for the pictures Rome, they look the same.
