anyone have any leads on where i might find a pinion? i can find the ring gear but no pinion. part number is 4s8715 thanks

I think you are going to have a rough time finding one.
In the US though, you should have a pretty good chance of getting a second hand bevel gear and pinion from a 941 or D4D.
Someone else may be able to confirm but I think 3P0783 is the same part.

On a D4E, with the same bevel gear as yours but slightly updated pinion I ended up having the bevel gear and pinion manufactured for less than what the pinion cost, when I eventually found one.

I check tomorrow if am still have 1 pinion on racking

aint having to much luck finding a pinion without spending fortune anyway. found 2 places that have them new for 1050. alot of places have the ring gear for around 450. i see some companies that make gears, whats yall opinion on that, if its even any cheaper or you think id be better off just spending the money on the oem and go with it.

I had a gear and pinion manufactured for a D4E because of cost and availability of the pinion. Nothing was available aftermarket so I paid our Caterpillar agent Barloworld about $1500 to import one. Was told 2 weeks, then 6 weeks, then sorry no longer available and was refunded. A friend eventually managed to find and import one from the US for me, but in the meantime I'd already had a set manufactured.
2 years ago it cost me the equivalent of about $1600.
I had to open up in Jan this year for an unrelated final drive issue. At roughly 1500 hours later everything still looked good. I will say that I believe getting your tooth contact and backlash correct is important or you will chew up teeth.

I would think that on your side of the pond, if you look around, there would be enough old D4's and 941's aound to find a good used pinion.

You could start by posting the s/n of your unit.

70H0617 (France) would be the same as as 80H1-3039 (US) which also uses the 4S8715 pinion (12T), a 7K8130 bevel gear shaft and a 4K4632 bevel gear (53T).
At 80H3040-up the pinion changes to 9K0447 (11T), a 8K9661 bevel gear (55T) and 9K0323 bevel gear shaft. This combination is also used on 955's 71J3198-up and 85J4672-up.
Might be a possible option if you can't come up with original gearing.

i have found a ring and pinion gear combo with updated pinion but the ring gear is part number 9k0322, in my machine is 4k4632. one site shows them to fit a 941 16u which i think is japan model. i was wondering if that gear would work in my loader?

the gears are coming from brazil is the only thing wish i could find something from US but without spending 2000 i cant. the combo is 800 from brazil.
