Very nicely done!

You sir are a true craftsman!

If the threaded area of the bolt is across the joint between the ball and the bushing, It may make failure a bit less likely by reversing the bolt and installing the nut In the pocket of the bell crank. Alternatively a bolt with a longer unthreaded shank might be used so that there was only just enough threads for the nut to tighten down on top of the rod end ball.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Hi Phil,
I echo what CCJ has said.
I hope you can get boots for those Rose Joints to give them a chance of longevity--if not then at least, with your adaptions, they will be easy to replace--clue is to not run them too long when worn as this will help keep shock loading due to excessive end play in them to minimum and so save the rest of the system from being over stressed and so requiring all this to be repeated.

Nice well executed work.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Great minds think alike:) That is exactly what I have done. I also made the holes in the bushes as tight a fit as I could.

And they are cheap too. Only about thirty dollars each. I am not sure if you can get boots for them. They are up under the engine so they should stay relatively free of the heavier dirt and gravel etc.
One thing about this forum is I am learning a lot of different names for the same product. I have never heard them called Rose Joints before.

Thank you both for the positive words.
