Thanks much Russell. Now the machine shop can go back to work.
Keep virus free and have a good summer.

Claney, nice to see you back online, are you going to re-sleeve those cylinders, I have 3 sets of flogged out 30 cylinders here in Oz I need to decide on what to do, 2 of the sets have been re-sleeved a million hours ago and flogged those sleeves out, so my options are limited, I was told last week that Chad Enyeart was re-sleeving 30 cylinders and offering them for sale, I sent him a email but haven't got a reply yet.
All the best
Mike

Hi Mike, My man got back to Me last Night, Unfortunately His Boring Bar can only Handle 12" max.Surely there is some One down in the Socialist Republic of Victoria that has a Larger Unit to Help out . another thought up here in the Banana Republic would be Mendams in Brisbane, don't have a Number though, Maybe Ivantighe Eng. 07-33088888 would be worth a try, They do specialise in Crank and Cam Grinding, but would worth a ring. The longest sleeve I have found here in Oz is 12" for that bore size, not being a Machinist or having seen sleeves fitted, but read here previously they get fitted with a lip in the cylinder to prevent them being pulled down into the crankshaft, I wonder if the boring bar only needs to cut down 12" for the new sleeve, and the final clean up of the new bore is done by 4 stone hones, or are the new sleeves bored to size then honed?
Thanks
Mike

I'm Guessing the inserts would be already to size on the ID and come with a recommended interference. I have done them but left the trade in 2002 so a bit out of touch.
Regarding the boring bar. We used to make them every day of the week to suit the range of jobs that were landed on our shop floor. Most Fitter/machinists would be able to make one if they didn't have one to get the required 12'' or more you mention. we used to bronze carbide tips to any solid bar we could find laying around the shop to make a home made boring bar LOL. They worked fine, but like most things just not taught anymore to apprentices.
