Good morning
Zenith carb on d47u pony
I've pulled my carb off to do a cleaning
When I pulled the main jet(float) out there was a ring around the jet near the tip that broke up and fell off of it.
I don't know if it is part of the jet or crud that formed a ring.
Does the jet have a ring, made of some material other than metal that is part of it? To facilitate sealing...
Thanks fellas

The screw in jet has a washer between the jet and the carb body for sealing. A new one will come with a carburetor kit.
Make sure you clean that lower passage real well, sometimes its best to remove the lead blocked passage (replace with a BB) to get it thoroughly cleaned. Also, check/adjust your bell crank back to 90*. Do some searching on here, carb cleaning/tuning discussions have been covered well.

When I did my pony carb on my D4 the thread "Pony Rebuild in Progress" started by Jw74 0n 03-04-2014 was very helpful and can be found by doing a search. I do not know how to attach it here or I would. Very good pictures. I found that a .17 cal lead pellet also worked good for replacing the drilled out plugs.

I should have said needle instead of jet
It's all steel...is it supposed to be? Is this an original needle?
Many replacements have a different color tip I assume made out of a different material.
When I turned the jet upside down to drop the needle out a small round hunk o stuff came out with it in pieces. My eyes can't tell if it was a part of the needle or just solidified crud.
If it's crud then that lower passage has to be clogged.

Looks like the crud that came out is what was left of the rubber tip on your needle. The original needles were all metal but that is not an original, that one would have had the rubber tip.
The cheap harbor freight ultrasonic washers work good for cleaning these carbs, strip it all down and give it a real good cleaning. A carb kit will include a new needle and jet.

Thank you
I didn't know for sure.
I will order a kit, need gaskets as well.
Anyone with a favorite supplier ?
I do have a heated ultrasonic cleaner, what's your favorite solution?
