is it Japanese made--mine was made by Mitsubishi and I think quite a few transfer pumps were the same---I had lots of problems with that screen in the banjo fitting plugging up

Replied by edb on topic Fuel Transfer Pump Check Valves
Hi Team,
Dan has first hand experience of these transfer pump check valves getting flakes of crud past the banjo screen you have cleaned, it embeds in the nylon material--easy fix is to carefully scrape the crud from the valve seat surface and then gently using a figure of eight motion on very fine wet/dry fuel lubricated emery paper lap the valves down until you see you have about a 60-70% clean up of the face and see what you get.
If the emery is too coarse you will get a furry surface to the valve and likely sealing issues.

Scan below from my Nissan Patrol engine book is the same style Transf. Pump as used on Cat 3204 or Mitsubishi engines should help.

This may be redundant due to extra posts made whilst copying scan etc.--Day late, Dollar short comes to mind.
OK, another scan for 3114-3116 fuel transfer pump has similar check valve set up as the one for Diesel Kiki.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

I pulled the fuel pump off today and found it was all clean and in working order, not surprised as my Father replaced it a few years ago. However, it still is not pumping fuel up to the filter housing after i started it up. Before I started it it pumped up great, filled the filter and pressurized the system. Does anyone have ideas? There is one shutoff valve on the tank that seems to be for a return or something and I've tried with it oriented in both directions, no luck.
Thanks
Josh

Hi Team,
scans from a Form out of a 3114-6 Engine Manual on Systems Operation Testing and Adjusting said engines, these scans specifically for Troubleshooting for Air in Fuel System. Form No :-SENR3583-04, Dated :- Oct 1994.
I only have this Form.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

If you can get generous flow at the hand priming pump it would appear there is still something wrong with the pump.

I get good flow before I start the engine, but once it runs, it seems to go off the fuel in the filter and then it will not pump with the hand pump or when I crank the engine.
Thanks
Josh
