Cat excavator not running after fuel tank flush

The fuel tank on my e120b was full of rust, it would run for maybe 20 min then choke out and die because the screen in the fuel pump got plugged. So I removed the fuel tank and flushed it and got lots of crud out then let it dry out, when I reinstalled the tank and bled the fuel system it pumped fuel fine via the priming pump and started fine, it then ran for about a minute and ran out of fuel (so I think). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Josh

P.S. Could replacing the hydraulic filter help? The date written on is is 05 so its a little overdue.

If you mean "Fuel Filter" that would be a good place to start.

The fuel filter is fresh, there is also a small screen inside of the inlet banjo bolt on the fuel pump, thats what I was referring to.
Thanks

Those banjo bolt screens can usually be inspected and cleaned with compressed air. Replace if damaged.

I already cleaned that after reinstalling the fuel tank, the problem is it seems to not pump fuel when its running but it did perfectly fine prior to tank removal.
Thanks

Are you getting flow of fuel to the pre-filter or banjo fitting?

It's strange, I don't seem to when I turn over the engine but when I pump the priming pump fuel gushes out (testing at the filter housing).

I'm not that familiar with that unit but is sounds like you may have some trash in the fuel pump itself, maybe in an internal check valve.

Would this be a 3204 engine? My fuel pump has 3 little plastic check valves in it and they break or plug fairly easily
