Grouser bolt spanner question

I need to sort some old D2 and D4 tracks out for pin and bush reworking but don't have a grouser nut tool or even seen one in the flesh, would someone be kind enough to please take a close up photo of one so I can set about making them, everytime I've used a ring spanner on the rusted solid nuts while using my rattle gun on the bolt head, it's rattled my hand numb.

Hello Mike,
I hope you are well !
I did many years ago change a set of D4 shoes from one set of chains to another, which involved removing all shoes from both sets of tracks.
In those days I didn't have a rattle gun so I bought a good quality (Britool) 3/4 AF combination spanner and used it with a length of pipe.
Not a single bolt defeated me although the spanner was banana shaped by the time I'd finished.
Even though the shoes had been on for many years, the (fine) threads on the bolts were clean and shiny when they came off, probably because they'd been pout on my Loctite or similar.
I'm afraid I can't help you with a picture of a trach wrench though. There is a schematic of one on the tools page in the parts book though.

-why not just weld a socket to a length of pipe or steel bar? esp if you have a socket that is not part of a complete set, can find a single used one, or purchase new if you have to...
-might not have to be deep socket, and i prefer 6 point over 12 for durability..
-you can also use it to tighten bolts, to final torque

oh okay, must be different style to what i've seen, on mine the track link holds the nut in position until its nearly off the bolt..so i understand the different style of wrench, that could still be made with some flat-bar..nothing trick

I'm probably wrong, but I thought the special track wrench was for the newer square nuts. All the older machines used hex fasteners.
