Fuel Housings D4's

Knock this off before you wreck something. If that's a blind threaded hole it may serve as an attachment point for some other application. I managed to purchase an early D4400 Electric set parts book that should be in the snail mail and hopefully will show the 25Pxxxx pump.

The 4G governor control shows 6 cap screws going into the injection pump rear flange. I can't tell exactly where they go but possible that threaded blind hole might be one of the locations.

Yep-I’m there. It’s been full of surprises. Been looking for a list of housing numbers to match engines / machines. No luck.

Nothing I’m seeing matches what manuals I’ve got-pics I’ve seen. I’ve got a Marine D4400 effective 1N4078 and D4400 Engine and Diesel Electric Set 4H1-4H500; 4H9001 to 4H9999; 3R2001 to 3R2314.

Thanks!
Bernie

If got 3R2315 - 3000, 1S1 - 5000, 6S1- 105 Generator set coming.
If the pump number sequencing means anything I'm thinking the 25P would be there, maybe in the 6S series. Were you able to get pump numbers from your manuals?

Funny-looks like where I left off, you picked up on the 3Rxxxx sequence. I really wasn't sure what S/N I would be looking for. I would just see something and then go from there. Thanks for looking for and getting the possible parts book.

I just received an ebay email that was odd....says my Marine D4400 book is 'out of stock' and they want to send me a reproduction. BS to that, you never know anyway if an email is a scam or not. I've done the reproductions-CAT repros aren't too bad for the barn, but when you want to sit and just go through a legible book with clarity, nothing beats the original manual(s). The Marine Book I think is dated 1956 and the Industrial Set book is dated 1944 if I remember correctly. Ordered:

No pump numbers at all-first thing I looked for to narrow it down on what I would be looking for. I found it odd nothing indicated a pump number or series.

Received my 3R2315 to 3R3000, 1S1 to 1S5000 and 6S1 to 6S105 parts manual. They all use a 19Pxxxx pump. I did see in the section showing the 3% governor that one cap screw 1D4538 is 2-1/4" going into the IP housing. That might be going into that blind thread hole at the end of the fuel gallery.

Josh....if you read this does the NPR show application for a 7B5191 cover or housing, whatever it is.

Good morning...I hope you are all avoiding the Wuhan Virus. If not, God's speed to your recovery,

Fuel Housing:

I received my D4400 Engine and Diesel Electric Set 4H1-4H500; 4H9001 to 4H9999; 3R2001 to 3R2314 over the weekend, and it appears to use the 7PXXX as well. Several diagrams of the fuel transfer housing-best I can tell they use the plug. I'll get back on obtaining another Marine PBk, since my last source, in my opinion, misrepresented themselves and were only marketing a reprint.

Point about the governor is a good one-my governor housing and cover do not utilize that blind hole, best I can tell. The hole still looks to me that it is milled in the block and no plug exists so an alternate attachment to the Governor or the Gov. Cover is possible.

Any info on the governor is appreciated as I think OM's comment is the likely spot on. Without understanding the particulars, I'd rather not reassemble but I am ready to wrap this up.....too long.

Starting Clutch / Pinion Assembly:

I did finish installing my Starting Engine Clutch and Pinion Assembly into the machine. I replaced large O-Ring that fits around the end of the housing just forward of the pinion gear and it makes for a tight seal. Once I realized that O-Ring was the hold up on sliding the assembly in the tractor, a little steady leverage slid it in. I wonder if some of the broken ears on that housing at the bolt mounts have been caused by guys trying to use tightening those four bolts as a tool to ease the housing in there, along with the clutch removal via pry bar as discussed.

I need to downsize a few photos of the clutch assembly / pinion assembly out of the machine and I will be posting a few of them on the bench prior to install.

Best to all, and hopefully that Virus doesn't live on greasy hands!
Have Fun and of course, thanks for the help and ideas,
Bernie

Yes, we are hunkered down out here in the sticks where the China Plague is least likely to get us.....except for the required groceries trips.
Check in the Attachment Section of your parts book for the 3% governor.
The more I think about a 25P pump the more likely I think it may be an arrangement for some other OEM use, maybe crane, or non cat generator application. Don't know.

Looking good, did you put any oil in the end housing with the small bearing at the end of the shaft? Just wondering why there’s a small drain plug there?

Aah, that makes sense! Thank you. Mine is apart and I haven’t got to the reassembly part yet.
