Latches on current machine-wondering what their service life is on these. I have two new ones but they seem bulkier and when dry installed the new ones did not move freely. No way centrifugal forces will kick them free of the shoulder bolt. I’m able to swap out the new pair for another set.

Too much wear on my current ones?

Everything is together. The only thing I had to do was bleed fuel tower and pumps. I used my Fernco air cap to put a little pressure in the system to bleed off. Pinion worked fine-looking over fluids this week to see things are in tact.

Not spiking the football but want to say thanks to you all.

Hi Bernie,
sorry, this one must have sneaked thru.

I guess it would be just me being El Cheapo but if it were mine I would likely have reused the old latches as is--as for the new ones were they tight on the sides--over width--or fouling in the tooth area--some file dressing on the teeth may have got you there or a rub on some emery on a flat surface for the over width.

All that aside it gives one some satisfaction when a repair and service ends well.

Regards,
Eddie B.

Hey Eddie-not el cheap oat all. Normally I just hate to dig back in on something and add that to the value of replacing parts....in this case however I kept my old ones. I dry fit two separate new pairs and couldn’t convince myself to trust them and cause an issue with the starting engine so I reused my latches, shoulder, sleeve, shaft.....you folks are very nice to be so helpful.

Thanks Mr. Eddie B!
