Fitting an Alternator to D4 7U

Drujinin yes I made the pulley. Mounted the roughed out aluminum pulley to the water pump pulley and did the final machining so it would run true with the fan pulley. Also put square holes that would fit a 3/8 inch ratchet in the aluminum pulley to help turn the original pulley to tighten the fan belt. Made the bottom mount for the alternator wider and used spacers to compensate for belt alignment after the fan belt has been tightened. I will use the original generator mount to run a hydraulic pump for blade control. bboaz

As far as the fan on an "SI" alternator, the fan is not uni-directional as Neil suggests. I believe there is someone who makes the fan for opposite rotation, just can't remember where or who?

Hi Lance I have a D4 30A that has a 24v starter fitted but no way to charge the 24v batteries and I was wondering what system you ended up installing on your 7U?
I don't have a 6v or 12v generator or the housing on my engine.
Does anyone have a generator/ housing and drive gear for sale in Australia - I am in Sth Aust?

This doesn't directly answer your question but it might be an option to install a series-parallel switch if you find a 12v generator for the machine. The preference would be for the 24v generator as you described but if you can't find one and can find the 12v generator, then this would get you charging with just addition of some wiring.

Cheers,
