Thanks for the link to 'Primitive Pete" that does take me back to shop class in the '60s. I have many examples of his work in the dooryard.

Sorry, 3J1Bill and HFDZL.
I studied that movie and took notes. Lots of good information in there. I'll try to do better from now on.
I am kind of proud of the fact that the flywheel nut didn't fall off, though. I must have did a pretty good job of pounding her on there last time.
I'm happy to provide you lots of fodder for restoration.

What made this hole in the case? The hole appears to be pushed from the inside out. There is weld splatter on the inside and heat marks. It was plugged with a piece of metal and a bolt. Found two more welded spots on the right side. Bill

The other side of that wall is the chamber containing the steering yoke - I just removed my steering and I can't imagine what might have created those holes other than some kind of rough disassembly. I suppose the steering could have "blown up" but I'd still be surprised if it knocked a hole in that way. Another possibility is if it had a PTO on it at some stage and the shaft broke and flogged around.

Wow that's quite the repair Bill, but it looks fairly kosher. I like that they saved it instead of heaving it out. Does it look like it's oil-tight?

I just picked up the completed pony motor fuel tank for 3J1 I had made in stainless steel. There will be no rust in the fuel for 3J1. Bill

Very nice work there, that is what the Cat Twenty Two needs too, their main fuel tank is usually rotted out in the base.

I am ready to remove the motor on 3J1 and install a N.O.S. engine kit. Any ideas or pictures of a cradle or stand for the motor. I have done CAT 22's in the past with a heavy duty automotive engine stand, but this motor is a lot heavier. Thanks, Bill
