SJ, the Serial Number Reference Book shows the5t production beginning in 1945. The 2T started in 1943, and I suspect that the 2T was the military version. The RD series ended in 1937, becoming the D4 4G. GWH

I too was thinking the RD model was before the D model but this book for Cat SNID book for salesmen sure has a lot of mistakes & probably other books too that are published as some have pointed out on here before. The book also shows the 2T D4 & also the 2T RD4 both came out in 1943, crazy isn,t it.

This tractor is an old military one you can see the OD green on it and part of the number on the side of the fuel tank. My D42T 8863WSP is a 1945 model and an old military tractor too.

Here in Alaska I bought 2, 1 running 1 parts for $500 last summer. The running model looks exactly like the one you have pictures of.

Will, I think you got a good price on that, considering you got a parts tractor with it. Parts can get pricy, so t is always good to have a parts machine upon which to rely. GWH
