Hi all, Looking at a D45T841SP. What year would it be and thoughts on value, not pretty I know. They had it running on either but not diesel about 3 years ago, have stacks covered. Thanks, John

The 5T came out in 1943 so as low as the SN is it,s possible it could have came out that year yet or 1944 I,m sure then.I have no opinion as to what it,s worth but someone here I,m sure can.

John, I suppose its value depends on how bad you want it. I noted undercarriage. Looks like some tin is missing; don't know if anything else is missing. It looks like a parts tractor to me. I'd be willing to pay scrap value, but maybe to be more specific, 500 to maybe a high of 850. Ya ya, I know, I'm cheap.

The tractor was made in 1945 according to the Serial Number Reference Manual.

GWH you might be right on the year as that was the 2nd. world war time & probably most tractors were only made for the govt.It looks like the hyd. jack rods are rusted pretty bad after I looked at the pictures & it doesn,t look like a Cat blade & hyd.so don,t know what it is unless someone else has the answer. We used to get quite a few of the old D7 army tractors in & if I recall they were the 4Ts. I don,t know if the blade on the D4 could be a Laplante Choate or not but doesn,t look exactly like one.

That is a LaPlante Choate angle blade, correct for that model.
If it runs it's worth at least $1,000, if not it's downhill from there.
The good thing on the 5T is that most of the guts once you get past the engine were carried over to the "U" models so parts interchange is pretty good.

My book says 1943 for the 2T. For your tractor D4 5T 841SP was built in 1945 1-3438. catskinner

My Dad bought a D4 5T497W in eary spring of 1945. It had military olive drap under the yellow paint. Looks like a Laplant Choat dozer to me. It replaced a Cat 30. Darrol

I just looked again in my Cat sales book for SNIDs & it lists the D4 5T as starting production in 1943 but then there is a 5T RD4 listed & started production in 1945 so I,m wondering if one is for the army tractor & the other for the civilian tractor but only guessing.
