If anyone is interested I have found a way to bypass the Magneto coil for a horizontal style pony motor (may also work on vertical style). It can run an automotive 6v or 12v coil (with or with out resistor). If there is enough interest I will make a video.

thats fairly common on stationary engines. when the mag windings die. its also common with low tension ignitions that had a seperate coil and dynamo to replace it with a 8 volt coil from a car.(these are the ones with the ceramic resistor block on the side found on many japanese cars in the 70s/80s)
