You are correct they are worn but I have seen much worse. If a new cartridge cannot be sourced then you could resurrect the old pump by getting the side plates lapped and a new cam ring and vanes. parts.cat.com says the 8F3445 has been indirectly replaced. I took a look in SIS and none of the replacement part numbers show up in any searches.

What's the s/n of the #46 unit and what cartridge part number (Cat part #) if known? There are several.

That cartridge looks repairable to me, The end plates can be either be built up then milled flat or lapped and shimmed when cartridge is installed, the ring can be smoothed out on a spindle sander, with new bearings and proper setup, should be usable.
Attica Hydraulics used to rebuild those cartridges, maybe still do.

well attica still list vickers on thier web site so i would say so. if they can still get the bits that is. it would be worth a phone call. they dont just do exchange they also do repair and return too.

Yes, the bearings are bad and have really messed the side plates up. That seems a bigger problem that the 'cam' and vanes to me.
Mag, don't have the serial off the back of the tank yet; why in the World is it located there??
Have some leads to check on parts and repair now, so will get to work on it .
Would be open to purchase the needed parts privately if anyone happens to know of some..... and I do have a complete pony motor with pinion and mag available for trade if so....
The apparent wear inside of the cam that the vanes ride on is authentic. Darn it !
Really is in sad shape overall. Just hope it is not the death knell for the old girl......

If you cant find another pump cartridge, dont give up the ship, there are plenty of good used complete units out there.

One advantage of non Cat you can add more valves, so you can add tilt cylinder. I did that to a 9u. With a clever friend even created a joy stick to control blade and tilt. The main thing is get a pump with at least 50 GPM as with the rams are big and move very slow at lower GPM. I believe the Cat unit is over 60 GPM, maybe 65.

Close, it's actually a 70 gpm rated pump. The problem with generic replacement is it's hard to find such a large pump to run low pressure 1000-1200 psi.

and its a little hard for hydraulics techs of today to understand these are low pressure high flow systems and we can still safely use the clamp type fittings of course you fit brand new high tensile fasteners. modern systems use higher pressures to make things lighter and more compact.
