I have one of Wally's broken original gauges that I intend to repair using Eddie's link. Just need to get around to it : ). The 5U's track frames are what's on the front burner currently

Cheers,

Brewser, if you have the number of an adapter I would appreciate it. I spent time at the local auto parts store and they did not have what I needed. An aftermarket gauge is OK with me since none of my tractors will ever get to a show.

Our Caterpillar agent ( Barlows) very slow just to confirm the part availability then the cost is close to the gold price

You are right about that. Barlows sure know how to put a mark up on their Caterpillar parts.

This topic about decent gauges for the old Cats comes up fairly regularly, and if there was ever a part the Club should have focused on, to benefit the biggest number of members, it's repro gauges, because nearly every old Cat I've seen has knackered oil/ fuel pressure gauges, and non working water temp gauges.

You can buy decent aftermarket gauges for John Deere and Inters and Massey Fergussen for around $30 and $40, and like "Brewzer", I've bought a couple of the "Wings" gauges for my 2 Tons and they work fine, but I sure wish the Club was selling a proper copy of a old Sylphon gauge that looked more original, we have been talking about this subject on here for 10 years.

This is the gauge I'm using on my old Cats till the Club Parts Committee comes up with something better, but I think I'll die of old age before that happens........

Here are pictures of the gauge box and adapter number. You also need to cut out a round adapter for the instrument panel. Picture attached.

I do believe that Cat sells the adapter. I bought some from Cat when I painted my D2.
