Hi Greetings from South Africa. I am busy restoring an 22 what is the acceptable oil pressure? I am getting 15 psi on a master guage

15 psi will work just fine.

My earlier 22, a 2F in the first thousand built runs at 25 lbs for a while and drops to 15 when warmed up. At hot idle it drops to 8 or 10 psi and I dont worry about that at all. Grant.

Thanks guys for the replies.I have noticed a lt of oil coming from the rocker adjusting screws . I found it many years ago with a stuck engine. I had new rings made and had the blocks re sleeved and crank ground. New head gaskets from cat.
I do have both parts and workshop book but getting spares is not easy. Our Caterpillar agent ( Barlows) very slow just to confirm the part availability then the cost is close to the gold price

I have a somewhat related question. My aftermarket oil gauge works fine but I cant find a water temperature gauge that fits the opening. The old ruined one had a brazed up adaptor and I have not found the right combination to fit a modern (inexpensive) gauge. Any suggestions???? Grant.

I have a modern SW gauge on my 22. It is a wings edition and cost about $70 at the parts store. You also have to buy an adapter for the bulb to fit the 22. I will post the numbers tomorrow of the gauge and adapter. If you want the original look I have some broken original gauges that you can work on.
