Most humble apologizes ... I looked and it was the D315 S/M .. I must have grabbed the wrong S/M and didn't check my source.
Thanks edb

I do appreciate all the information and the help . My membership did expire recently , I’m am hesitant to renew , I have read a lot on here about the club needing new members and keeping members . I have tried to buy decals for my project from the club (with no success ) I also ordered the thermometer a while back and when it didn’t show up , I got told they where out . Nobody ever let me know my order couldn’t be fulfilled . I like the club and the board but I have had horrible luck .

All I can do is to apologise on behalf of the club for the very poor service that you experienced. I’m not sure just when this happened, but a little over a year ago just after we upgraded / replaced the website we had all sorts of problems especially with the store part. Nevertheless it is inexcusable not to keep customers informed.
if you are still interested in buying a thermometer we are making some more soon. I also don’t understand the problem with your decals. If you let me know which decals you ordered I will find out if they are available and the price.

Hi Fat Dan,
as far as I can tell the con-rod nut specs. are not in in my D4600 or D318 SRB's but may be in later ones.
I also had checked the D315 SRB and saw the tension you stated and then checked the Parts Books for each pony and found the con-rod bolt/nut diameter difference leading me to the 24 lb/ft I cited which is a low end torque for a 3/8" fastener but it allows you to then advance the nut to align the split pin holes safely as stated in the SRB.
It has been my experience that used fasteners in this application usually come to torque when the split pin holes align.

"Any one who never made a mistake never achieved anything" I was told once when I was an Apprentice at the Dealer by an old hand, I still make them too and it is usually OM who corrects me so do not feel bad over it.
Regards,
Eddie B.

Was the D5 a typo or do you have one of the super rare original D5's with a D4600 engine?
"D5 (9M) was originally built in 1939, with only 46 built. It was a cross between the D4 chassis and the 6-cylinder D6 45 hp D4600 engine."

trainzkid88, the D4600 manual has no additional information in it than the engine section of the D6 4R/5R manual that I can see. The later D318 may be different although my 944 book had everything I needed to know about the D330 engine. My 955K book is the same.

944A - Machine SN 43A2589 Engine SN 90A284
955K- Machine SN 71J3772 Engine SN 83Z0704
D6 SN's 4R732sp, 5R2724, 5R4832
D8 SN's 15A1254, 15A2287, 15A2723

I have a 9K09320 a late 9K Motor Grader with the D4600. I also have the Operator Instructions (and Maintenance) manual " Caterpillar Diesel No. 12 Motor Grader" Eff. 9K1~9K9999, 7T1~UP. Form 9008-B It is just general maintenance and information for the D4600.Also Parts Book 9K2845 ~ 9K9999, 7T1 ~ 7T3099 Inc. Form UE032970. I have a service manual as soon as I can get to it.If you think it will help. I have a lot of irons in the fire right now.
