I put my 14yr daughter on the excavator on last year's project and she treated it like a phone, meaning the hands, fingers, and thumbs were flying in no time. Moved some dirt in record time - it was all I could do to keep up with the load-out wagon

Cheers,
Neil

Hi Deas,
jeepers Mate, that Bren Gun Carrier is now a Vickers Machine Gun Carrier--nice upgrade.
Did you get a pic of the brass plate on the hull that tells who and where it was built.
My Dad used to be sent by the Manpower people during WW2 to The Metropolitan Gas Company to weld hulls for these--he was a qualified Boiler Maker and Welder so was not allowed to join the armed forces--he tried all three arms and eventually was told he would be thrown in jail if he kept applying--he was not a happy camper when some low life sent Mum a white feather which indicated he was a coward for not enlisting.
Amongst many jobs Manpower sent Dad to he also worked on the docks in charge of a gang of Boiler Maker-Welders repairing locally battle damaged shipping.
Amongst the vehicles I learned to drive in my youger years was a Bren Carrier that Dad had at his factory that was being coverted into a farm tractor.

In later years the Commonwealth of Australia issued a Certificate expressing gratitude for contributions by citizens during WW2--those like Dad who were in protected occupations.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hi, edb.
Yep, know what you're talking about. My father was a boilermaker/welder at Tomlinson Steel in Perth for the greater part of WW2 and then had to return to the family farm when his father became too ill to continue working it in August, 1944. Without the work that such people put in during the war, our soldiers, sailors and airmen would not have had much to throw at the enemy or do all the other things that needed doing to win the war.

I was told by the people who had it there that it was Australian built and ex-Australian Army - the platypus and the boomerang on the front and rear sorta give a clue too. They seemed delighted to meet somebody who ackshully knew what it was.

Thanks for the photos Deas, and glad you could make it north to visit. The military display was nice. Reminds me a lot of Glen’s passion for the armed forces.
Turnout looked light to me, but everyone was happy, as they counted a considerable number of paid visitors.

Sad to say Deas, but that Persian orange combination works pretty darn good! It was CR's ex Murray from Patterson, CA. That M86 loads quick and easy.
The red "Beast" belongs to my notorious truck collector buddy Dennis Chan. His dad Lincoln Chan was dissed by the local dealer of yellow iron decades ago, so they decided IH was the way to go for them. I have slowly convinced them that CATs rule, as they lease a fleet of them from me, as well as owning their own 14A and 36A D8's, not to mention some really nice D7G's as well. I wanted you to try your luck at making motocross tracks for some of the spectators, but you were giving listening lessons to the military fellows, as they told me a feller of your caliber was around with camera in hand, but damn it if they could understand what language he be speakin'!!!
