Hello everyone!

I am a new member and wanted to introduce myself to the crowd.

I have been around CAT & Other Heavy Equipment brands my entire life and am relatively young at the age of 37. I currently work in the heavy mining industry & power generation "Fixing Draglines, Shovels, motor-generator sets, etc." mainly on the electrical motor side of things. We also have cattle here in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

I recently acquired a nice 1959 D6 9U from a current member and was asked to introduce myself and post a few photos of my new unit. This unit will mainly be used to push snow and some light "work". It is my plan over time to restore this unit, but of course that will be dependent on expendable income "ha ha!"

My job usually takes me into Wyoming, North Dakota, Montana and of course South Dakota. Anyone near me?

-Chase

Hi, Thank you for joining ACMOC and introducing yourself.
That looks like a really tidy tractor.
I'm afraid I'm not near you as I'm in the UK !
Stay safe and I hope you enjoy your ACMOC membership.
Best regards, John

Man, I used to have a D6 just like that one. Mine came from a super nice member from SoCal.
Hmmm, I hope you treat it right, or the club members will come down on you hard!
Thanks for becoming a paid ACMOC member. You will be able to access the BB guilt free, and better yet, contribute to the forum. May your tractor and new found friends last a lifetime.

Welcome aboard , that D6 looks very familiar . Congrats on the new purchase. You have a good Cat there . It has a few miles under its tracks the last few years. In So Cal I pulled a 60 scraper with it at the local tractor shows. Then Juiceman bought it with the 60 scraper. That tractor and the 60 was sure a lot of fun to move dirt with.

I've heard a number of great things about you from Juiceman! He def. did not want to part with it, but I think he felt bad for me and wanted to see me in a good unit lol.

Soon as I got it to the shop, I ended up throwing an electric starter on it and recently cut the pony tank in half, sand blasted and epoxy coated the inside and got her back together. Had a fuel delivery issue on the PM when we got it back home so I couldn't even get it off the lowboy lol.

If things go well this weekend I hope to put the pony tank back on, new fuel line and an inline filter for it and get the pony ready to go. She runs great and you found one heck of a great unit when you picked her up!

Do you know Rich Worisek from Broadview Montana? He is also a heavy equipment mechanic working in the underground mining equipment industry. He used to work for the Komatsu dealer in Billings. He is a friend of mine. He has no old equipment.

I don't live near you but I've driven thru your town before, lol. I have a D6 9U very similar to yours. I love the canopy and sweeps on your machine, mine is a bare back at the moment. is it an oil clutch unit? The 9U is a very dependable tractor, if you take care of it it will last a long time.

Joe G , that canopy and sweeps are one of the main reasons I bought that D6 , I had been stalking that tractor for 5 years .i was original gonna restore it as a fire dozer. The guy that I bought it from ask how found out about this tractor , I told him when you run lowbeds you get to go places where no others get to. Other than the grousers being a little low the tractor is in very good shape and one of the easiest starting pony motors I have had .The only reason I sold it is a have to many projects .Glad it went to a good home .
