I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site. thanks to all that run and give feed back. very helpful this day and age as cat dealers don't even try to help. there is getting to be less and less guys who can help or have knowledge about these old machines. thanks a bunch to you guys.
Just a side note I run my own shop in northern Alberta and got a call from a guy near edmonton, he had final drive problems on a d6d and finning told him the machine was to old they would not send a truck out to him. So he got me to come out 7 hour drive one way).
That sure surprised me I don't even consider a d6d a old cat, not compared to what I and a lot of you are working on.
Just my thoughts thanks to all the members

I am from Brazil, Whenever I can make my subscription I renew!
I had problems with the delivery of the magazines but the content, the feedback I get whenever I post something on the forum is excellent.
I think the price is low for the content it has.
Thanks

Hello Dick,
Immediately after reading your post, I have contacted the relevant people to look into this issue which I was unaware of. Please accept my apologies that the process of renewing yoyr membership was not straightforward, we will sort this out.
I have asked Mary Clark to contact you so you can renew your membership.
Best Regards, John
Hi John,
Thank you very much, Mary has already contacted me and I've already sent her over the necessary info for her to straighten things out for me. I appreciate the quick response.

Hi, thank you for replying. I am pleased that you get value from your membership. There have been problems with late delivery of magazines to some places especially since the covid19 problems. We are closely monitoring the situation. You can always read the electronic copy on the website (in the members area) if your paper copy is delayed.
Are there many Caterpillar enthusiasts (fans) in Brazil? Do you think we would encourage others there to become members if we had the website and magazine translated into Portuguese?
Best regards John.

I signed up again, 3 year. Membership has more then paid for itself in troubleshooting and advice.
Hi and thank you for taking the time to reply.
I enjoyed reading about your progress with the D9. I hope the mining is going well, Opal I believe?
I’m really pleased that our bb and the incredibly knowledgeable experts we have were able to help you with your project. That’s what this club is all about. It is a pity that more people on here don’t sign up so as to make sure that we can continue to provide a service.

I won't pay to use forums. If I get into a real bind and can't receive help here for one of my ailing CAT's, I'll try some other website. I see a lot of the same members here on other similar forums. If they refuse to help me on other websites due to not paying the fee for this site, then so be it I guess.

Hello All,
As we approach the go-live date for the new website, I would very much like to understand why we have so many users of the BB and website who are not current members.
There was a lengthy conversation about this only a few months ago, you might peruse that thread if you haven't already:

Thanks,
Jordan

Also some information from
this thread
regarding membership fee income in relation to funding of this forum specifically;
There has been confusion in the past regarding the cost of the bulletin board. ACMOC membership dues primarily cover the cost of the magazine and nothing else. The bulletin board has always been a bonus funded by other income to the club. If you are a member, thank you, but your membership does not cover the cost of the bulletin board. As mentioned previously, the ads are being placed to augment income to help run the bulletin board and other functions of the club. We may have been using the same version of Vbulletin for several years, but we still have to pay for the license as well as other software and licenses to remain online. As was mentioned over the summer, we were required to comply with the GDPR. We are always needing to upgrade our SSL and other security plug ins to maintain and comply with security mandates. We employ a webmaster to wade through the incoming static to determine what we need and advise accordingly. This all costs money. FYI, the GDPR update was not a budgeted item because it was not on the radar until the eleventh hour. We needed to comply. Our webmaster quoted a price to perform the update. When the dust settled, the actual cost to perform the update was 5X the quote. They still only billed us for the quoted price.
So, in a nutshell, the ads are benefitting the club when they finally appear. We will see how it goes.
Thanks,
Jordan
