Pictures
1) Float bowl cleaned (ish)
2&3) lower passage cleaned as far a swab
4) passage to blead cleared this far
5) this is the passage I’m uncertain about.
Is there supposed to be a cross port here?
I hope it’s clear that I’m trying to portray a passage below the swab. This one appears plugged. I’m not sure if it should be open or clear.

The passage across the bottom of the bowl opens into the metering well. Inside that well there is a brass jet that you can carefully screw out if you haven't already. Under that is a well that blends air and fuel from memory. If the cross passage opens into that well, then you're good to go. For the brass jet that crosses the venturi, you can use a single wire from a wire brush and check that the cross drilling up by the head is open, and that you can blow air down the tube and out those holes.
Cheers,

I think the tip on your idle jet is broken off. Here is a picture of a good one from McDonald Carburetor. The end is tapered down so it fits into the bowl and creates a seal. Yours does not have a taper on the end. McDonald Carburetor has this part for about $12, and it is listed as part number 41 in their diagram they use for parts identification. I also found you can drill out he soft plugs in the bowl, tap them with a 6-32 thread and use a 6-32 screw to seal the passage ways once they have been cleaned. A little thread locker on the screw keeps it in place, but can be removed easily for future cleaning.

Can you tell me if there is supposed to be a passage from part #19 in the diagram you posted to jet 23?
Dave.

Hi Team,
well you learn something every day--just saying is all---in all the pony carbies I have ever done I am sure that the long slender fragile cross ways jets all had square ends to them--maybe that is a later version to have the tapered end.
Said jets are shown in the SRB as square ends
at the end of the day it likely makes no difference and maybe that is a later manufacturing process.
The fun continues.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

So Eddie B. Are you saying this idle jet tube is in fact ok??
Here a a picture of the end which appears to have a restrictive orifice.

So I have been told, if you take the carburetor apart without unscrewing the idle jet first you can break the end off the said jet. The one I replaced had the tapered end broken off and stuck in the carburetor bowl. Had to dig it out with a pick to clean the passage way behind it. Yes I do believe there is a passageway between part 19 in the drawing to the jet (23),in the bottom of the bowl.. Part 19 is behind the second hex headed plug in the bottom of the bowl and will screw out of the passageway for cleaning it and the passageway. Of course i haven't done near as many pony carburetors as some of the folks here so I am by no means an expert. Just relating what I found on one of the last ones I did for a 112 road grader. I do know that once it was put back on the grader the pony sure started good and that was what matters.

Well it sounds like I have a few more plugs to pull. But not for a-bitter since we just evacuated for the Zogg fire. A bit off topic.
