Finally after driving this tractor into my shop back in 2006, last weekend on the 4th of July I put the finishing touches on RD6 2H4723W. Does anyone know how many brass tagged RD6's were made?
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Toby Nelson (a.k.a. Squatch253 on youtube) for posting various Caterpillar related videos. He has several videos covering different aspects of the RD6's. His video on rebuilding the fan of an RD6 was helpful in the restoration of my tractor. Toby if you see this post I hope you continue to produce your extremely interesting and helpful Caterpillar related videos.

Thank you all for the kind words. But before anyone else gives me too much credit I must note that I did not rebuild any parts of the diesel engine. It ran fairly well when I got it. The rest of the tractor - pony engine, radiator, fuel tank, clutch, transmission, brakes, differential, final drives, undercarriage, and tracks all received moderate to extensive amounts of work. Being that most of the shows are cancelled this year I am still hopeful that I can take it to a couple informal shows/gatherings and give it a work out. I want to make any necessary adjustments and work out any bugs that might develop. I'll put some thought into writing an article about it for the magazine.

Once again - thank you all for the kind words and support!
Steve - where's the 44? Brownsville or at home?
Dick - Good eye. Yes I am missing the guards 1A8850 as well as the step on the rear sprocket cover. I don't see it listed separately but rather as part of the guard assembly #2B3839 and 2B3840. I would be interested if you had them.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
