Cut down gutted generator housing is also an option....

I like that option,
I have access to a burnt d8, so I might scoop the generator from it and try to build one just like the pic

The one thing I don't understand is the 1 wire alternator, is that a new thing out?
I sure appreciate the help guys

-i think longer, like mid eightys....when fuel injection and computers came along...maybe even a little before....electronic ignitions with modules etc..

Not just "one wire". The internal regulator needs to be the "low cut in" type for the low rpm applications.

You can get one of the GM 1 wire 24 volt on ebay. I think I paid about $80 for mine a few years back. It was on my old D8-14A when I bought it. The mount up looks like hell, but it works.
