A friend of mine who is a paid up (financial) member of the club is going to make a 1/5th scale model of a 1926 Caterpillar 60 tractor and would like the following information.
I'm really hoping that we will be able to help him.
He would like to know the pitch of the track chains and if possible the diameter of the sprockets and front idlers.
Does anyone know where he could obtain some drawings, especially of the 'back end' transmission case and final drives as he will need to make patterns and have castings made.
My friend does not use a computer and so I volunteered to help him as much as I can and will pass on to him any information gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance.
Best Regards John.

Hi Ian, that is a truly amazing model. The detail is incredible and it would be good to find out who made it, possibly Italian?

WOW, that is amazing, thank you so much.
I'm going to have to persuade my friend to start using computers.
Seven years of work by the look of it! Incredible.

Hi Pete,
Would you be able to help with the pitch of the track chains on the 60 and the diameter of the sprockets / idlers ?
Also, My friend would very much like to get in contact with the man from Canberra to compare notes so to speak.
From the blog, the tractor looks superb, I can only imagine what it must be like in the flesh !
Best Regards, John

Hi John,
Lindsay Drabasch built the SIXTY a number of years ago, I will call you and give you his phone number as he may not want it out here in the public domain.
The track pitch for a SIXTY is the same right through and including the D8 13A, I think the only change is in the actual rail height.

Hi John. I measured my chain and it’s 16” center to center over three pins. The front idler is roughly 28 1/2”. The flange is 1” deep so where the tracks run is 26 1/2”. I measured the sprocket but I can’t remember the darned number. I’ll remeasure today.
Hope this helps
BP.
