at the Dealer for clients and our Used Division we used to get outside Auto upholsterers/trimmers to do the older machine head linings, seats etc.
We also had a local glass company that handled our glass needs--the window glass is usually toughened glass so it shatters like old auto windscreens used to.

Did it start with the 933?

You bought back good memories of the same for me.
Originally in the seat under dads arm of a similar age , then side saddle on the oil filter as I outgrew the confined operating position. ( sitting over the track. - Those were the days!).

Nice upgrade to the 977 also.

PS: - Love the closed sheeting of those excavations.
