Happy weekend!

I bought this 977L at auction a week or so ago. It’s actually not in bad shape but definitely needs some love. My CAT dealer and I are struggling to find parts do any of you all have good suggestions for parts availability ?? It is a 64X prefix. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry these Cat guys can be a bit like Harley owners when it comes to Caterpillars or the website here - touchy. They get this type of question all the time, even I asked myself, The best answer would be to immerse yourself in some SERVICE and parts manuals. I see you have a good jump on it with a good Cat hand. scan the 'For Sale' Forum here for a good start. eBay has usable parts from time to time. I never get any good parts off Craigslist just more projects. "MarketPlace" like Craigslist... lots of good stuff at local auctions (why I even got a headache at an auction once). Your local 'Watering Hole' is a another great source for parts. The thing is always be on the lookout when on the internet.
The best thing when working with Cats is to use the whole serial number because if Cat changed one o-ring it may have a different housing and part number and that change will show up when ordering parts. It is Caterpillars way of keeping track of updates on each part over the years.

Okay, I suppose that was fair...

The machine is currently at my CAT dealer, Wagner Equipment in Grand Junction CO and just finished a thorough inspection which I can upload when its sent via email. Overall, the machine is mechanically sound, which is a good thing. My goal with machine is to fix it up to like new condition, that will require sheet metal on the tracks, headliner, gauges and new dash, and lastly parts for the CAT AC which is super neat. Myself along with wagner have looked for things like the rear sliding window and have not had much luck. These are the kind of parts we are looking for.

We have quite a few pieces of CAT equipment and two full time mechanics so we are definitely equipped for the task.

I should have been more clear with my ask.

Kenco Mfg has the track frame guards. If the old gauges are readable and work, keep them, the new ones look cheap. Some older auto glass shops can replace the broken cab windows.

When we are done it will look and operate better than bran new!!

You are absolutely correct if the little things work guys take better care of it!
