another seat cushion question

BigAgCat get your set secured some how. I am not to hard to please in the looks department. But a bad bump in your path could be life or death if your seat is just sitting there.

If you like how your boat seat sits that works. But for looking behind I have always like the big bench. I gave my method to build a cheap seat in the other tread. But I also believe in adjusting the height of the seat to your body. As well as the back rest distance.

The seat would probably fall off the tractor and I would probably have to have some kind of catastrophic thing happen in order to fall off. The boat seat is fine, it just isn't big enough to take up the entire "seat area" so it can slide left and right when the tractor is on an angle.

Job well done for a using seat.

 I will put the idea out there attach the boat seat(bucket seat out of a car or a up side down bucket) to piece of plywood to keep it in one place.Bolt it down to something, if for more than 5 minutes to prove the machine functions. In my option very important to be able to put your foot on a brake without having to hunt for it. As your seat is in a fixed place so you foot finds it by a reflex action if things are getting:fear: out of hand.

I am glad this came up, all the new seats seemed to be made from foam, the seats on my 11 included. I don't like the foam, after a few hours it squishes down and stays down not offering much support sitting in a hole, might have something to do with all the lead in my backside, any any rate I would like to go back to regular old seat springs because the foam hurts me. My question, anybody know of seat spring manufacturer's, I have been on the lookout for an old set but have yet to find anything. This takes me back to my youth when the guy I drove tractor for was so cheap, the seats were made from a thick flake of baled hay stuffed into several thicknesses of gunny sacks and then folded over  after awhile it turned into an adobe block, when the seat started to volunteer you knew it was time to replace it:smile:

i have a hahn seat on my 2T and it doesn't squish down. i like it just fine even compared to original spring seat. Mr.Hahn said he would pass my info to his son in law and his friend but they haven't contacted me back. so i am afraid the Hahn seats may be extinct!!! i hope not.

True Tad: An ORIGINAL seat orange or yellow was made with springs NOT foam. I too liked the real deal, as the springs gave one a nice ride, not the same as high density foam.
I salvage old seat springs, and have had local guys make me a replacement from time to time.
After sitting on a tractor for 10-18 hours straight, your rear can definitely notice the difference.
Spring style seats are expensive, but worth it if you work long hours.
