Getting way of topic but here’s A little better view of the engine before the body went on

Every time I see a Ford flathead motor, it reminds me of the time I was running the County landfill. It had just opened in the middle of 1974 and I didn't have a building yet to work out of. I was up at the trench when a 2 ton old Ford truck came driving up with stock racks on it hauling a bunch of boxes of cardboard with different kinds of old Ford plastic tail lights that had a flaw in them and couldn't be sold. A young kid was driving the truck and I would say he was around 18 years old. When he stopped, I walked up to his driver door and looked inside and right away seen smoke coming up thru the floor boards and I noticed the emergency brake lever was pulled back and thought to myself that he drove out here with the brake lever on. I told him to open up the hood to make sure nothing was on fire, He gets out and raises up the hood and looks at the flathead motor in it and says," what the hell is that?" He had never seen a flathead motor before. I told him to release the brake lever and it would be OK as he would drive it back to town. It was a early 1950"s something truck. He didn't know anything about the brake lever. catskinner

Yes early Halibrand quick change take cap screws out remove cover switch top gear to bottom changes it from something like 3.23 to 5.29 in just a few minutes. Drive to the drag strip switch gears race then break transmission like I did on the runway at Santa Margarita.

"King Rex"'s brother Donald is vice mayor here in California City. He (Don) was the person responsible for my acquiring several pieces of OI from an OI collector's estate several years ago: 2ea D2 T series, TD6, 17A D7, D4 U series, Terracer, and some scrap. Most of the stuff had various problems (and most still do) but the 17A runs good (spent ~$500 and time), Terracer works great behind my 8C20, one D2 runs okay other needs pony work, D4 has bad pony.
