My guess isnt psi but thousandths of valve protrusion. That is a very real spec for diesels. It greatly affects the starting of the engine due to the lowered compression. If they are thin as he says the protrusion is too low already. No cracks mentioned which is great news.

Hi Team,

Your cyl. head/valve design is Type 1, from the illustration on the page lower--ie, valves protrude the head surface.
As said above the valve protrusion effects the volume of the combustion space and so the ultimate compression pressure, and so its startability, especially in a Diesel.
Although slightly blurry they should print OK.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

You guys are right on with that - I just didnt understand the lingo. Anyway he is replacing all 4 exhaust valves and the intake valve on number 3 that was pitted so badly. Everything else including the guides was in good shape. Only 300 bucks lol. Could've been way more though but I consider not so bad. Hopefully will start without ether from now on!

Good deal, it might, but probably will still need a little visit from the ether bunny.

Hey guys, that valve job did the trick! Cranks much mich easier now. I'm going to try without ether in the morning. Once I finally got the air bubble out of my lines, she cranked right up. I even did some clearing with it this afternoon. Amazed at the difference so far! Thanks to all who helped with advice and everything!!!
