D4 7u diesel leaking into crankcase

Hey guys, I've looked at a bunch of helpful posts about this on here and have a picture and question to ask about it. I removed my governor and fuel pump together and think I found which seal needs to be replaced in the photo but from looking at the parts manual I acquired, it doesnt show that same seal on the governor side. My serial number is 7u43973, so did I luck out and wont have to take the governor apart to repair this? Also, anything else I need to check while I've got this thing off? The lower seal on the camshaft looks ok - a little rusted on a portion but the rubber seems pliable and all. Not sure about anything else but didnt want to open up the governor if I didnt need to. Thanks for any helpful suggestions/advice. I'm still a novice!

If it's like my D2, there's a plug in the governor side, and it uses the same seal. It may be the same for the D4. Does the parts diagram show qty 2? If so, then just order two of them

Tractors after 7U37458 did not have the rear plug and seal. The front o ring seal is 8B4967. Might as well replace the lip seal too.

Hey Rome. Thanks for the info. Is the lip seal the other one in this picture that goes over the cam with oil in it?

Your welcome, correct.

I guess I'm wondering something else about this because I'm ignorant of how this thing works but how does diesel actually get into the crankcase since this is outside the ceankcase?

Replied by kingmike on topic Ring seal
I didnt bang on this thing too bad getting it out I didnt think but the inside is banged up now anyway if it wasnt already that way. I wonder if some jb weld and sand paper might clean it up some but I do wonder if the ring attached to the cam moves?

JB Weld could work but it might be easier to just use some sealant around the periphery for the lip seal (if I understand what you're asking)
