Maybe two hands, I can't remember. Heads aren't on right? What did the pistons feel like to push when you installed them before hooking the rods up to the crank? What did the crank turn like before you connected the rods? You can always loosen the rod caps and see if it makes a difference.

Cheers,
Neil

Hi Team,
new correctly gapped rings do drag mid bore--and are less so at each dead centre as the piston is barely moving as the crank passes each dead centre.
Likely normal depending on ring tensions and bore surface finish. Smooth finish less so than a coarser finish.

Gear retainer bolt tension would be standard 3/8" bolt torque at around 30 Lbs/Ft.
You need to endure that the "C" timing marks for this gear to the crank are correctly aligned or else your timing will be incorrect--sorry cannot attach a scan for you.

Flywheel nut tension is 150 to 160 Lbs/ft.
be sure to support under the flywheel so as to not flex the crank centre web or a broken crank can result.

OM has made up a support rig but as the BB Administrators and, not the Club Administrators, have slashed our cache ability so OM and I cannot post a pic of his rig--hopefully some one else can locate a scan of it on here using Search and post it for you.

Cheers
Eddie B.

Thanks All.

Kittylover - didn't use plastigauge, but it would have been a good idea.

Neil - heads aren't on yet. Crank spun freely with no rods attached. I did loosen the cap on the rod in cylinder 1, near the flange, and no change, so that made me feel a little better.

Eddie - bore is coarse, so I feel more comfortable it's harder to turn due to the drag vs bearing. Timing marks are good. Thanks for the tip on securing the flywheel.
