Firecat,

Nice pic of the Cat 20 w/ Bishop fenders. Your right when you say Fern Bishop stated making the fenders in the 20's. By 1932, Fern Bishop had moved to San Fernando and started another citrus grove and also grew melons and alfalfa hay. Ferns' son either bought out his fathers business or was running it for him. However, Fern Bishop would regularly drive his 1 1/2 ton flatbed truck (he also hauled his own PV15 on this truck to his sisters orchards) from San Fernando to Santa Ana to the business. It's interesting to note the business (building still there) was located next to the rail road tracks which made it easier for the small Cat's to be shipped to the welding shop to have the fenders and other items installed. The Bishop family is very well known in Orange County, CA for their contributions to the citrus industry (Orange County Historical Society) and had their own fruit labels and packing plants.

Good info on the citrus fenders. Within the last year on the Yesterday's Tractor page a person in the Ridgecrest area had a set of Bowman fenders for sale. Bowmans factory was located within a mile of Bishop's. I do know FS Bishop had requested a pattent on his fenders, but haven't been able to figure out how to do a pattent search to see if he actually got it (along with a bunch of other things he was working on.)

Who owns the Cat twenty with the Bishop fenders in your pics? That looked like a nice original cat.
