I got the wrench bought. $50.00 and I am one happy camper!! Thank you so much. That puts me at $200 to get the tracks done and with 3.66" spacer I will have plenty of room for future adjustment. Thank you again. bplunk

I need to make a correction on the parts I ordered and received for the track job. The spacers Cat part 4B 8649 for the yokes are not 3.66" thick. They are 1 3/16' thick. And the 5/8" fine thread bolt I need is 3" long not the 5 1/2" I quoted. The 1 3/16" thickness will tighten my tracks to "Cat Specs" but leaves very little for future adjustment. It will last me no more than I will use it.
The track wrench will be delivered this morning so hopefully I wind this up today. I will get some pic and see if I can get them on here. Thanks again for the help. I am now a dues paying member.

Bplunk,
Here is an example of a spacer installed on a D2 idler yoke. D4 would be similar.

If I was doing the repair, I would first back off the track adjuster a fair bit so that when I installed the spacer (made as thick as possible), I would then have the ability to tighten the track some more later on.
As you can see by the picture, this isn't high tech engineering involved here; just use some plate stock of the thickness you need, get the hole pattern right and change out the bolts to longer grip length. Obviously you will have to do this repair to the inboard and outboard idler yoke arms.
Your biggest hurdle may be getting the bolts free to take the assembly apart. A little heat should make it come apart.

I have a rd4 1937 and the wheel hub assy has the yoke arms cast as part of the hub housing, they are bolted to the spring assy at the rear end of the yokes.... but I cant get the wheel and hub assy to move forward after taking the bolts out of the yoke/tension arms... even after pulling on it with a chain and my truck...
