Stephen, on the 44 unit two lines came down the left side and two came down the right side. The diverter valve was used when all four lines were needed in the rear.

There was an early #44 single spool series that used 4 pipes, two down the left and two down the right. Can't remember the serial number prefix but I remember there was a triangular "peak" cast into the top center of the #44 housing so the lines bolt on at about a 45° angle from vertical.

More common later models single spool series used a flat top casting and there are two lines back along the right side to the firewall area where there is a diverter valve block and two crossover pipes to the left dozer lift cylinder. The same flat top pattern was used for the two spool models. I think all 4 lines from the 2 spool setup always came back along the right side but I do not know if the diverter valve was still used or if there was a connection block that replaced it for connecting the crossover pipes just behind the firewall.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Late #44 configurations with 4 pipes running down the right hand side have two lines going to the diverter valve and beyond and two lines continuous from front to back.

the bolt pattern is the same as all the code61 hose flanges note there are 2 types standard and modern CAT, the cat fittings are thicker in the body and a spacer ring is needed to use the standard code 61 fittings with cat flanges. the old 50's models used the standard fittings. also current sae code 61 are a 4 bolt system not 2 bolt so you may have fun getting bolt flanges the fittings are the same though.
